The Van Dieman M.C.C. was founded in November 2005 by a group of devoted bikers:
We were originally based at the Brewer’s Arms in Banwell but have since emigrated and now reside at the Borough Arms in Weston-Super-Mare.
Our name comes from the old Dutch name for Tasmania (Van Dieman’s Land). Our link with Tasmania comes via two light fingered gits from Banwell in the 1840’s, who nicked some blokes horses and were given a free holiday to (you guessed it) Tasmania, funded by your local tax payer. Hence our side patch in which Taz is riding out of Banwell castle on his steel horse.
We are a mixed bunch of characters, some young in the saddle and some that have been on too long and wont get off!!!!
We are a fun loving group that enjoy their time on the road, a few beers and lots of laughs, whether it be a ‘ride out’ or a ‘night out’ or even weekends away.
Fellow bikers are always welcome; why not join us for a drink on a Thursday night at the Borough Arms at 8pm to find out more…
